A subsidiary of  Grand Award Records founded by Enoch Light (performer and creator of the LP gatefold sleeve) and George Schwager in 1955. Command was best known for audiophile quality releases from middle-of-the-road / lounge music acts.
In October 1959, Grand Award and its 4 subsidiaries; Audition, Colortone, Command and Waldorf Music Hall, were purchased by Am-Par - owner of ABC-Paramount Records.
Founder Enoch Light left the ABC umbrella label in 1966 to form Project 3 Records.
