White
Whale was started in 1965 by Ted Feigin and Lee Lassiff in Los Angeles.
When
the Turtles disbanded, White Whale lost their big moneymaker, and the label
went out of business in 1970 after scoring one last Billboard Top 40,
"1900:
Yesterday" by Liz Damon's Orient Express (WW 368).
White
Whale's assets were sold at auction, including the Turtles's master recordings.
The winners were Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman of the Turtles, making them
the owners of their own works
